Run Bouncie off battery power

How much power should a Bouncie device use when sitting idle? I'm trying to run one off a battery so I can track trailers if they are stolen. I tried an 1800mAh battery but it didn't last 2 days. Is there a way to reduce power usage at idle so a Bouncie device can be used for this purpose?
