Vehicle status during transportation

Two days ago, I shipped my car from Chicago thru a transportation company to California. Some times the app sends notification says, your trip started/ended.  Truking company person took the car on a truck from my home. I did not checked the odometer before. I am confused. My car moving to California on a truck or its actually some one driving?
